Just wanted to get an idea of what other people are playing, from guitars to strings and string guages. Who cares, whatever you feel like sharing.

=Daryson said: dude, i would give my nut to have that guitar about a year ago, but then I saw Dean's new DBZ guitars, and they fell much better than the Dean's I've played (although most of them were the cheapest models, I don't have the budget for a real Dean). I am currently playing my buddy's Ibanez RG2EX1. I am playing D'addario 10's, and they are doing wonderful for me. I'm using a kinda heavy pick (.88), and it gives me wonderful tone when I play shit on the low end. |

I'm currently running 9-46's for the first 6 strings, and a 58 for low B. But string gauge is also contingent on your guitar specs. I've got a baritone 27 inch scaled neck, so anything thicker - I'll have problems bending. _______________________________

I think right now i've got the 11-58 Ernie Ball Power Slinkies. I wish I knew what Matt used on Shogun. It was something crazy like 12-63 or something like that. My Les Paul Standard 7 string doesn't have a very long neck so the tension on the strings isn't quite the same as on some guitars I've played (Schecter 7 strings).

Yeah, I remember in an interview Matt mentioning ridiculously heavy gauge strings haha. -Chris _______________________________

@Ahsan: I talked to some guy that works at DR that dealt with Matt directly, and supposedly he used 9-50 with a 65 for the 7th string. I currently switched to the power slinkys too. I like them alot but I think the 7th string should be thicker than a 58, at least a 60. |

Finally switched back to DR (thank God). They are my favorite strings by far. Now I'm playing 11-50 with a 65. I like this setup way more than any other I tried, so I'll probably be sticking with this. |
