Practice the chords... position changes... and exercises like scales or patterns... and when you feel ready start learning Trivium songs... first slower... until you can get the accurated tempo...

QUOTE(Kirk @ Mar 8 2007, 01:23 AM) I guess that with 3 months his fingers aren't stretched enough to do most of the riffs... but it's just my thoughts...

The songs from Ascendancy and Ember to Inferno are all fairly easy. You're just going to have to do the smart thing and slow them down until you get them up to speed. The fastest way to become a better player is to practice, and practice correctly. Don't go off messing around because you think it's cool. Trivium's older pieces are definitely good beginner pieces (minus the solos) The riffing isn't too intricate so they're easy to learn, it'll just take practice to get them up to speed.
Make sure you're doing everything right from the start though. You don't want to dive right and develop bad habits to start.

I'll try to be honest with you... if you practice you could probably learn different parts from different songs (like chords parts mostly)... i'd have to see you playing to see how stretched are your fingers after 3 months... so... It's hard to say...
You could try the intro and verse of Pull Harder Of The Strings Of Your Martyr... and Matt's guitar part on Dying In Your Arms and the intro and verse riff too...
Good luck...
