has anyone heard of the theory that we are a planet sheltered to the great war in space with other alien beings. we are highly unevolved and they like our planet, its recourses and the genetics of humans?

You've never taken a history course before have you?
The Ottoman Turks had blocked land passage to the Asia's (China, India etc.) and up and until the invention of the cannon and mounting them on ships (the Caravel was quite an advantage) they controlled the seas there as well.
Columbus was charged with sailing westward to find a different passage to Asia. He never found Asia, rather Central/South America.
The first person to find there way to Asia by western pass was Magellan, however he was killed in the Phillipines and his first office Juan Sebastian Elcano completed his voyage back to Europe. Although Magellan is often credited as the first who circumnavigated the world even though he didn't make it all the way.

So anyways, Columbus called them Indians because he though he had found Asia, boy was he wrong:P
