To be honest, I don't know how anyone can not keep in time, keeping time I can understand because no ones a machine, but not being able to keep in a simple 4/4 beat is beyond me.
I tend to agree with what Elliot said last August.

ahh i know you gonna say '' ahh dont blame the teacher ...'' but
i was never taught right by my old tutor ... all he did was give me a scale ...(pentatonic) and said play through that and come up with something ... never went through theory or like anything ...
my new tutors ace tho .... goes in depth into everything ... his words are ''if you get fustrated over doing something wrong, and want to slam your guitar into my head i must be doing something right. this is called pushing your boundaries ''
with my new teacher he has taught me so F'ing much that i think the last tutor didnt even know of ...

The thing is, I don't think keeping in time is something that can be taught. I'm self taught and never had a problem with keeping in time, or anacrusises (sp?) i've always seen and treated them as something you feel naturally while keeping in time not something that should be taught.
