Old School Death Metal

Posts: 5727 Member #: 17,831 Joined: 09/15/2009	Me n Mattie again have been discussing how lovely Old school DM is. And it really is THE best style going. My favourites would beeee: Death Baphomet Morbid Angel Morgoth Obituary Napalm Death (around Mentally Murdered EP and Harmony Corruption) Carcass (they do go there with Necroticism) Cannibal Corpse (i really like Butchered At Birth now!) Massacre All just too amazing. But i love the new old school stuff also, especially Cannabis Corpse. Theres not too many new old school DM bands. So i love flying the flag with the Minister Bonesaw stuff.

Haha I was gonna say Thanatos Im listening to them right now!!! Fucking love them! Swedish bands like Dismember and Unleashed are keeping the old skool sound alive even now! I like Broken Hope. They have sorta low grind vocals with a more mid range approach but it's still got that classic DM feel to it Master are really sick too! Oh yeah. BRUTALITY! (the band)

Posts: 1998 Member #: 11,430 Joined: 09/15/2009	Awesome idea for a thread, especially as I am slowly getting into this stuff at the moment. I am very slow though, but I'm loving Death right now I got Scream Bloody Gore, Spiritual Healing and Human, out of which Human is probably my favorite.

Posts: 10297 Member #: 12,645 Joined: 09/15/2009	Old skool Death Metal, death metal with RIFFS Im just playing. I do enjoy the riffage of modern DM. But you can't put on a Hate Eternal album and say it's better then Ripping Corpse.. YOU JUST CAN'T!!!

Dismember, Bloodbath, Entombed, Grave, Edge Of Sanity.. The "buzzsaw" guitar tone just, does it for me. Morbid Angel deserves a mention for me too. Their debut is one of the greatest old school death metal albums I’ve heard.
