Progressive!

OK, so I am a HUGE prog buff. What do you guys think about it? My fav prog metal bands are:
Between The Buried And Me (prog craziness)
Pain Of Salvation (prog metal. huge tonal shifts and great)
Ayreon (prog metal superband)
Liquid Tension Experiment (dream theater without labrie)
Kamelot (prog power)
Dream Theater (a must)
Opeth (Prog death, no?)
Mars Volta (prog rock/psychedelia)
Radiohead (I know, not your typical prog but I think they fit the billl. Everything they do is so abstract and unconventional. A lot of it anyway.)

I haven't really explored progressive metal, but I've checked out Dream Theater. I only have Image s and Words and Train of Thought. I don't know if I like them that much, but Train of Thought was awesome and I've heard it's their heaviest album yet. Their style seems to change which is really strange but pretty amazing how versatile they are.

I love it when bands change their style from album to album. I love it when they really experiment w/their sound, and evolve musically. Anyway, Train of thought is actually the worst DT album. A Change Of Seasons, Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, Scenes From A Memory. Those 3 are great.

Took this from Amazon.
"Ok. Let's face it, a lot of the "true" DT fans out there, hate this album. That's fine. Most of these people are traditional prog fans who think that music should take you here and there and everywhere. Some sort of musical journey. If that's what floats your boat, then ooookay."

I like As I Am and Honor Thy Father off Train. Great album. I prefer Octavarium and Scenes From A Memory. Even though all there albums have a select great songs. Images & Words is a brill ant just not very heavy...
But I enjoy the following bands from your list.
Liquid Tension Experiment (Dream Theater without Labrie and Myung)
Kamelot
Dream Theater
Opeth
Tomorrow I plan on checking out Ayreon. I think I'll like it.

Hilarious. And yes, I do think that music can be deep like that. I don't like how the reviewer trivialized the idea.
@Glenn: Ayreon is great. Labrie is in it (just to name one). Oh, and yeah I forgot LTE didnt have Myung either. Labrie is the most noticeable one thats missing from it.
