I'm a Dream Theater fan and I find that some of their songs are quite astonishing, such as 'Home' and 'A Change of Seasons'. They use Pplenty of instuments in songs like 'Dance of Eternity', it sounds quite bad sometimes with all the trumpets etc but usually it works brilliantly. I only own two albums: 'Scenes From a Memory' and 'Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence', but I really want to buy 'Train of Thought' because 'Honor thy Father' and 'As I Am' are excellent songs.

Im a huge dt fan, and ToT is my favourite album - yep it is their heaviest.
Closely followed by Octavarium and Awake.
Pain of Salvation
Dream Theater
Opeth
Liquid Tension Experiment
Threshold (like PoS but less insane)
Are all brilliant

QUOTE(cainXcore)Ive heard about BTBAM for ages now.....still havnt got round to listening to them
BTBAM is like... My fav band I think. They have such awesome tonal shifts. They go from these insane brutal sections into these beautiful ambient chill sections. Its amazing.

i like Dream Theater alot
people complain about the whole no hooks of it all but i think after Portnoys or Perrucci's 5th Orgasmasolo you kinda forget about that. besides the chorus's in Beyond this Life and Fatal Tragedy are pretty melody filled..
i dont like other much prog apart from opeth though

Songs can be prog and still have choruses.
