Dan, you can't tell the guy he listens to the wrong bands. And as for redoing what's been done a thousand times, you're currently ripping off stoner/Sabbathy stuff from 25 years ago are you not?
These guys are a band that sound really similar to Trivium's early stuff, and this is the Trivium board; they're only young guys and they sound pretty good at what they enjoy doing. The songs they have up are from their debut EP, and they're not bad at all.

Im only making my music for a laugh with dave from HOD. I know im never gonna make it anywhere with a band.
If your influences are those bands, youll be doping metalcore, and if you're serious about making it anywhere, metalcore isnt the thing anymore. Thats my opinion.

Thanks for that comment. I can't and don't take the comment above you seriously because although he may have a few valid points about the vocals and structure his points about the genre and band name are HIS opinion and to me he's just an unimportant person sitting behind a computer and in all honesty I couldn't care less whether he likes the music or not. We enjoy it and thats all that matters...(just like you enjoy your music from reading your most recent post) For every one that doesn't I'm sure there are more that do...
Also if you have such a clear loathing of metalcore why are you even on this forum? It's a Trivium forum, is it not?

We recently party-band-headlined a Battle of the Bands event where a Killswitch Engage ripoff band from North Lincs called They Will Rise won a place at this year's Bloodstock Open Air.

Exactly man, you shouldnt care. I dont know you guys personally, youve pretty much come along to only promote the band, so i thought id give my honest opinion, and thats it. But im not asking you do take it into account if you enjoy it. Its just my opinion like ive already said to Elliot.

I know They Will Rise, pretty good band. And bands like that are always going to be popular as they bridge the gap between rock and metal for most listeners even though they may not be approved but "Elitists". The same way as Slipknot are so popular even though nu-metal is now "dead", softer metal sub-genres are always going to be present..

Weeellll, in one form another. But like every other form of music, they will move on. Like Slipknot did, as they dropped nu-metal and started playing metalcore. But the lifespan of the bands doesnt tend to be too long and the members of Slipknot know theyve done all they can do now, seeing as theyce broke up a silly number of times now. I think theres always going to be that radio friendly thing, but itll always be different. We never know what it could be.

Aye they definitely deserved to win the final out of all the bands, and there were a couple of heavier ones in there too.

Although "Elitists" may be an over-harsh word, i think this pretty much sums up the situation. This is the Trivium forum afterall, and anyone who likes bands like Bullet for my Valentine and Killswitch Engage (both great friends of Trivium) should technically be welcome here.
What most new people don't realise however is that the Other Forums section isn't really anything to do with Trivium at all any more, it's just a place where we all know each other. We all have a lot heavier music tastes than your average Trivium fan too, so when a metalcore fan happens to wander in here, he/she doesn't usually get the kind welcome he/she expected.

I just posted the link in a relevant forum to look for reactions as I mentioned above. I didn't expect to be met with a barrage of critisicm. As I said, I appreciated Elliot's feedback as it was constructive and actually helped. The same goes for your comments about the vocals and structure which would have been openly accepted if you had not chosen to be a complete dick about it! You just seem to be completely closed-minded which is a bit hypocritical seeing as you told me to pick a different genre... Anyway I didn't come here to argue or "spam" as you put it yesterday, was just looking for some comments on the band. Sorry if I intruded.

July 23, 2009 4:58:53 PM UTC Post #20

Well usually on a forum before you come in and go "heres my band" you generally post. Because its generally considered spam. If you think i was being a dick, fine, but that was my opinion. So me telling you you should do something is an opinion and you say you dont take them serious, so dont change your mind now. I dont care if im being a dick or not, its my opinion, and youve got yours, anybody can say what they wish on matters.
