FUCK! I can't scream for shit...i can growl but i can't scream Any tips? I can't seem to get anything done...its just....air!

The way i learned was instead of trying to scream straight away, try and get your growl to go a bit higher until eventually you have it like a Matt Heafy roar rather than a growl, then all you have to do is push that higher and higher and then something changes in the back of your throat and it becomes a scream... You just have to take your time going higher and higher every rehearsal or whatever, because it won't just come straight away unfortunately.

For anyone that listens to Mastodon and knows a fair bit about vocals; would Brent be putting on that really gruff half scream thing he has going or would that just be his equivalent of Matt's 'heavy' singing? (an example of what I mean would be the I will unleash hell part in Blood and Thunder)

The biggest thing I did improve my vocals was just listen to the music I enjoyed and try to emulate what the vocalists did. Matt being one of them. Randy Blythe and Howard Jones being two other big vocal influences of mine.
