It's a great album, even though its abit too ...err.... creepy to me. they've recorded the drummings abit to low or out of focus of my liking, but the return of Atillas recorvers that. it sounds pretty underproduced, but that just helps the nostalic / creepy feeling. the vocal work is pretty cool, he's using loads of tecniques, which sound pretty rad to me. My only complains is the sound of the guitars and drums. overall, its a great Mayhem album. They've placed theirselfes at the top of norwegian black metal with this album. get your copy, and hear it yourself.

Exile is one of my favourite Slayer songs.. Not a big fan of that album tho.

nü-doom, huh?
I saw The Prophecy back in August of 03, when they were on the Doomination of America tour. Pretty good band, though I really don't consider them Doom. I picked up a copy of Ashes, but reallly haven't followed up on them since then. Mourning Beloveth played that tour, as well. Morgion was supposed to play, but had to cancel a Raleigh show, because their guitarist got all fucked up from a car accident in New York. I saw most of the members this past year on Reflections, after Morgion had broken up, and some of the members formed a band called Keen of the Crow. Come to think of it, the only true Doom Metal band on the Doomination tour was Orodruin, who are one of the criminally underrated bands in the COTD.

the new DB album is not completely of my liking, but it's better than the 2 previous releases, suffice to say. so perhaps they're heading in a better direction
